March 24th, 2020
We appreciate your understanding concerning Jupiter Reef Club operations. In these unprecedented times we are adapting as swiftly as possible in an extremely fluid environment. This letter provides an update concerning Jupiter Reef Club status.
Due to the unchecked spread of the highly contagious and potentially deadly Covid-19 (Corona) virus the Jupiter Reef Club Resort will temporarily close all units, grounds, and facilities as of Noon March 28, 2020. All occupied units, the grounds and parking lots must be vacated by that time.
This decision was made in the best interests of and for the protection of the health of the owners, guests, staff, their families and loved ones. While a disappointment and inconvenience to some, it would be irresponsible and potentially dangerous to remain in operation at any level.
During this temporary closure unauthorized admittance to the grounds and use of any of the facilities including parking lots will not be permitted and will be strictly enforced by 24-hour security.
This decision and action have not been made lightly and it is unfortunate that this temporary closure is necessary, but this is the current reality. Closure is a combination of outside factors. Other Palm Beach properties have closed, including The Breakers’ Resort. Per government issued executive order, all Palm Beach County restaurants, entertainment venues, and beaches have been closed.
The Club will be reopened as soon as it is prudent and safe to do so. In the interim, closure provides maintenance opportunities, including a deep clean, and some projects suggested by owners. The seawall construction will continue as long as governmental agencies permit.
Additional information will be forthcoming. Please check the Jupiter Reef Club website. Your patience, understanding and cooperation is needed during this crisis that affects us all and is greatly appreciated.
The Board of Directors Budget meeting will continue as previously noticed for Monday, April 6th, 2020 at the Jupiter Reef Club office. All directors with the exception of JoAnn Rother will teleconference. Due to the limited size of office it is not possible to create a 6-foot social distance.
The annual directors’ election is still scheduled to and must proceed on Tuesday, April 7th, 2020 at 5:00pm. The State of Emergency may require a change from the American Legion Hall. If the move is to a smaller venue, or the location limits attendees, then ballot counting is anticipated to be video-taped.
Once election ballots are counted, for the Annual Members’ Meeting no other business is required. Remember, the Condominium Act requires ballots must be handed in before the Meeting on Tuesday, April 7th. The only Meeting agenda item for a vote is the approval of last year’s minutes which can be approved next year. Taking into account capacity and social distance requirements, it is likely that the meeting will have to be adjourned to another time, most likely June 17th, 2020 at 5:00pm at the American Legion Hall, Tequesta, Florida Post 271.
The Board thanks the staff for continuing to arrive at work, and their positive attitudes. The Board also thanks members for understanding that this is a most difficult time and have sought to work cooperatively. Your continued patience, understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Jupiter Reef Club’s one of a kind property is preserved through support from our owners united across the world. These difficult times will soon become a distant memory as we strive for a healthy future to continue providing an unparalleled oceanfront resort. Owners perseverance in achieving ongoing property enhancements is a true testament to our Association’s strength.
