Covid-19 Response and Seawall Status

Jupiter Reef Club Owners, 

The Jupiter Reef Club is committed to looking out for the health and well being of our Association’s owners and guests. We are actively monitoring the situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). At the present time and until we are told otherwise, the JRC will remain open and fully operational. Our current and future guidance comes from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and governmental agencies.

Following instructions and mandates from local governments the Jupiter Reef Club Board of Directors has motioned to postpone the Annual Members Meeting until June.

Please return ballots and proxies by the original meeting date of Tuesday, April 7th 2020 .

A notice with the rescheduled date, time, and venue will be sent to you via USPS mail and by email.

We are closely following recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and are taking precautions to protect the health and well-being of everyone at the Jupiter Reef Club. Since this began, we have continued to welcome owners, renters and RCI guests and are pleased to continue doing so, but we acknowledge the severity of this situation. As such, we are reminding you to please follow the CDC recommendations to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all. All guests are asked to maintain the CDC- recommended social distancing of six (6) feet in the office, on the grounds, and on the pool deck.

As of Thursday, March 19th the Town of Jupiter announced a state of emergency. The beaches in Palm Beach County closed Friday, March 20th.  In the event of JRC crowding in numbers that conflict with CDC guidelines, temporary restrictions on the number of non-residing unit owners may be implemented.

The health and cleaning measures that are already in place the JRC are designed to address the spread of contagious illnesses. Our cleaning protocol includes everything from handwashing hygiene to unit and common area cleaning procedures. In response to the spread of COVID-19, JRC has increased sanitization practices for high frequency touchpoints. As always, the safety and well-being of our Owners, Members, guests and associates is our top priority.  

Cleaning and Disinfecting

The cleaning staff provides clean comfortable units on a regular basis, but nothing is now regular. JRC will strive to follow all CDC Guidelines in this regard. 

  • All linens are bleached when washed effectively killing any virus.
  • All deck chairs, tables, BBQ counters, handrails and the Gazebo bar will be spray disinfected each morning.
  • The office area and two common restrooms are being cleaned and disinfected twice a day.

The cleaning and maintenance staff will strive to provide clean and safe common facilities, but occupants are requested to do their share by keeping the unit interiors clean during their stay.

Pool & Spa

The CDC has issued an opinion that “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs”. We will continue our regular protocol of cleaning and testing to assure the safety of the facilities.

Rentals

The Jupiter Reef Club has experienced over forty cancellations. The cancellation policy remains in affect as follows:

Cancellation Policy

  1. After seventy-two (72) hours of the rental date, there will be a $100.00 cancellation fee to cancel the reservation.
    1. If more than thirty-one (31) days prior to the first day of arrival; you will be charged a cancellation fee of $100.00.
  2. If less than thirty-one (31) days prior to the first day of arrival you will forfeit your full deposit. 
    1. The unit will then be placed for rental again.  If it is re-rented you will then receive your deposit less $100.00.

Every effort is being made to re-rent all cancelled reservations. If you are an owner of a unit/week that has had a cancelled reservation, please contact the office if you would like to remove it from rental to occupy or deposit in RCI.

North Parking Lot Seawall Construction

Construction of the North parking lot seawall began on Monday March 16th. The North parking lot seawall construction is estimated to be completed in 6 to 8 weeks. The North parking lot will remain closed during this time. Main Seawall Construction

Construction of the main seawall and North parking lot seawall is rapidly progressing.

A plywood platform has been constructed on the upper patio deck area. This “runway” is to be used to continue seawall construction in compliance with permit special conditions for sea turtle season. Walker Contracting has staged a mini crane on the upper deck runway. The mini crane is used to install the reinforcement mats for the stem wall and form work for concrete. All reinforcing rebar mats have been fabricated.

If you visited the property between February 28th-29th or March 8th-10th you would have witnessed unprecedented wave conditions. Waves 13-17 feet in height flooded the patio with each occurrence.

Pumps were required to remove the water approximately 2 feet deep around the patio and pool side. As a result of the March wave conditions the pool and spa heaters were totaled. Despite these wave conditions the contractor has been making progress installing the necessary reinforcing for the stem wall section of the main seawall. Upon completion of installation of reinforcements for the stem wall section, concrete pouring is scheduled to take place.

We will continue to remain open while following recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to take precautions to protect the health and well-being of everyone at the Jupiter Reef Club. Please continue to follow the official Jupiter Reef Club Owners page for the latest updates. Updates will be provided in the event additional emergency measures are implemented. These are uncertain times and we’re doing all we can to continue providing a healthy vacation experience.
