Annual Election Venue Change & Seawall Update

Jupiter Reef Club Owners,

We hope you are fairing well throughout these unprecedented times. Currently the Association remains closed in the best interest of the health of owners, guests, staff, and pursuant to advisement by the CDC and local government ordinances. A "Safer at Home" order is in effect advising “…all persons in Florida to limit their movements and personal interactions outside of their home to only those necessary to obtain or provide essential services or conduct essential activities.”

The Club will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so. The Board of Directors Budget meeting will continue as previously noticed for Monday, April 6th, 2020 at the Jupiter Reef Club office. The Annual Directors Election remains scheduled to proceed as previously noticed for Tuesday, April 7th with the following changes required due to the State of Emergency:

The American Legion Post 271 was required to temporarily close. To maintain a 6-foot social distance space the smaller meeting space in the office limits attendees. The ballot counting will be video-taped. Once election ballots are counted, for the Annual Members’ Meeting no other business is required. Considering capacity and social distance requirements, the meeting will have to be adjourned to another time tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at 5:00pm at the American Legion Hall, Tequesta, Florida Post 271. Please remember to submit your proxy and ballot before April 7th at 5:00pm.

The Organizational Meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors of the Association will be held by Wednesday, April 15th to elect officers and schedule the first board meeting for the new fiscal year.

The essential seawall and parking lot seawall construction is ongoing. Saturday, March 28th a wave swell system off the coast of New England damaged approximately 82 feet of sheet piles on the Eastern face of the main seawall.

The Contractor, Engineer, and Subcontractor were immediately notified. Monday, March 30th all met on site to review and structure a new emergency plan to realign and reattach the sheet pile to proceed with future footing pours. Click here for a video of the damage. The work is continued to be pursued with hopes further damage from future swells will be avoided.

Moving forward, the contractor has utilized additional space on the upper patio deck to accommodate necessary machinery. This entailed the temporary removal of the East deck on unit A1 to level additional portions of the patio deck.  Larger 25’ long steel sheets will be used to assist in properly reinstalling the failed sheet piles and for the form work for the footer. The contractor remains confident that a concrete pour of 100’ of the footer is forthcoming.

The North parking lot seawall construction is continuing concurrently.

The new sheet pile parking lot seawall is being installed. Installation of anchors and reinforcements for the new cap are scheduled next.

Additional information regarding the emergency closure will be forthcoming. We hope all owners are staying healthy and safe during this time. We are grateful for each and every owners support through payment of the annual maintenance fees and the temporary seawall special assessments. As you are aware, our exquisite location is not able to be replicated and continued pursuit of our coastal property preservation is necessary to resume providing an environment for owners to create lasting memories with unsurpassable views of the Atlantic.
